When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest.
Ernest Hemingway
The consensus here at InsideOutsideHealth is that spring is the best time for resolutions, and new revelations…if you will. It can be a time to think more clearly and have more clarity in what brings you happiness. The longer, brighter days make it easier to start something new.
With the surge of spring, we can often naturally feel a newfound energy. Our bodies and minds may feel more alert and more inclined to embrace health this time of year. We may feel more motivated to move more and more often.
Early spring in Canada can be a teaser for sure. Nevertheless, this is an ideal time to try a new activity – running, cycling, hiking, tennis? Take advantage of the longer days and get outside more, or just change it up.
Healthy eat it up – this is also a great time to move away from heavier comfort food – eat more of the ‘healthy’ stuff and less of the ‘unhealthy’ stuff – and move toward fresher salads, fruit bowls, Buddha bowls, smoothies, or just lighten up how you eat – if you so wish.
Spring can be a perfect time to embark on a new daily routine with health in mind – be it physical, mental, or emotional wellbeing. Perhaps it is a resolution to commit to exercising regularly or eating more fruits and vegetables, drinking more water, or focusing on improving your sleep habits. Or to start practicing mindfulness. Journaling or meditation are great ways to start the day. Find new inspiration or just appreciate the wonder in your surroundings.
Consider spring as a new beginning. What’s your spring?
Spring will come and so will happiness. Hold on. Life will get warmer.
